Mission

We implement long-term development projects

Doctors with Africa CUAMM is the first recognised health NGO in Italy and the largest Italian organisation dedicated to promoting and protecting the health of African populations.

What we do every day

We are committed to training qualified healthcare professionals, both in Italy and in Africa, capable of responding with competence and responsibility to the health needs of local communities.

We promote research and scientific dissemination as essential tools to improve the quality of care and support innovation within local health systems. At the same time, we carry out information and awareness-raising activities targeting public opinion and national and international institutions.

Where we are headed

Our objectives are twofold:

arrow

to improve health conditions in Africa,

based on the belief that health is not a consumer good but a universal human right, and that access to healthcare must not be a privilege;

arrow

to promote a positive and supportive attitude towards Africa,

fostering engagement among institutions and public opinion to strengthen interest, hope, and commitment to the continent’s future.

Our values are rooted in solidarity, development, justice, competence, proximity, and continuity.
We operate with a spirit of service and professionalism, alongside people and local institutions, to build strong and accessible health systems for all.

How we work

The principles guiding our interventions are:

Rooted presence

We strengthen our long-standing presence in countries where we have worked the longest, building on experience, relationships, and continuity of interventions.

Human resources

We promote the training of African healthcare professionals to strengthen their technical and managerial skills, in line with our commitment to building direct and lasting partnerships.

Emerging needs

We work in areas of greatest need with the aim of developing sustainable service delivery systems rooted in local resources.
