Ensuring Pediatric and Nutritional Care at Bangui Pediatric Hospital

Africa, Central African Republic
Training in Africa For mothers and children
The Central African Republic is one of the most fragile countries in the world, ranking 188th out of 191 on the Human Development Index. In a context marked by recurring crises and instability, access to basic services such as healthcare and education remains a daily challenge—especially for mothers and children. The Pediatric University Hospital Center of Bangui (CHUPB) is the only tertiary-level referral centre for pediatric care in the entire country. With 257 beds, the hospital represents the last chance to receive appropriate care for thousands of families, many of whom travel from remote areas in search of specialised care for their children.
We have been working alongside the Ministry of Health at the Bangui hospital since 2018. Our intervention aims to strengthen clinical services and improve overall hospital management to ensure free, high-quality care.

In the country’s only pediatric center, we are present to provide care and support training.

  • For mothers and children
Each year we provide care to over 60,000 children. Since the beginning of the intervention, the hospital has treated more than 437,000 young patients, achieving an outstanding recovery rate of 94% today.
  • Training in Africa
We do not limit ourselves to providing care, but work to make the hospital more self-sufficient. We provide technical assistance and training in administrative, managerial, and clinical areas to doctors, nurses, and interns.
To maintain the high standards of care achieved and to respond to more than 15,000 hospital admissions each year, it is essential to ensure continuous medical supplies and operational support for the facility. Supporting the Bangui Pediatric Hospital means investing in the core of the Central African healthcare system—enabling a centre of excellence to continue saving lives and training the country’s future medical professionals, so that the right to health becomes a reality for every child.
